Join OPAK & CARE for the Cape & Islands for an Evening of Ocean Plastics Awareness

An evening of Ocean Plastics awareness and student films exploring problem-solving in our region's Blue Economy sector hosted by CARE for the Cape and Islands at CCCC (5-7pm). View the documentary “Straws”, a locally produced “Skip the Straw” film about students taking action against plastics in the ocean, and student films about their work with regional STEM-rich institutions.

OPAK will have a table highlighting some our students work to protect the ocean! We hope to see you there.

Also make sure to register for other Cape Cod STEM Week Events: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScevSqGKtkipaYzub1EkWvP-B6EZbXU8HXbxM3rKvtw6O-y3g/viewform?c=0&w=1

STRAWS is a 32 minute documentary by filmmaker Linda Booker released Spring 2017. Half a billion non-recyclable plastic straws get used every day in the U.S., ending up in landfills and on streets and beaches. Academy Award-winning actor Tim Robbins narrates and turtle researchers, community activists and business owners discuss a sea of change happening, one straw at a time. Mission Blue Screening

OPAK is on a mission to keep the celebration of our ocean going strong. June 8th is World Oceans Day and on June 10th we are going to celebrate in Osterville with a FREE Screening of Mission Blue! This is a great way for the whole family to learn about famed ocean explorer and oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle.

Following the film OPAK will have a few ocean-themed activities for the whole family to enjoy. While this event is FREE, donations to OPAK would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact Jeffrey Morgan at jmorgan@opakedu.org with any questions!
