OPAK Secures Lush Cosmetics Funding to Help Expand Programming

Nov. 3rd, 2017. CHATHAM, MA— Ocean Protection Advocacy Kids, Inc. (OPAK) is pleased to announce that it has received funding from Lush Cosmetics to expand and execute its “Plankton & Plastics” program which dives into the evolution of the marine food web. Lush has generously granted OPAK $17,676 to conduct programming across Southeastern Massachusetts. These funds make it possible for the organization to reach new students, to fulfill its goals with the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative of teaching in every town on the Cape, and of securing the necessary supplies to run innovative STEAM programs!

When asked about the organizations goals, OPAK President, Melanie Colby, responded:  “With the rapidly changing climate of our globe and our oceans, it is crucial now more than ever to inspire and educate future generations to become strong environmental leaders.” OPAK believes it can reach upwards of 500 students by the end of this school year thanks to Lush. Lush’s Charity Pot funding goes to small, grassroots groups that have limited resources and often struggle to find funding. They support groups both in North America and around the world working in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights (Lush website).
